Abstract: The article is devoted to the relationship between Piotr M. Bitsilli and Klavdiia V. Florovskaya against the background of historical events of the first half of the 20th century — the First and Second World Wars, the Russian Revolution, the Civil War. Special attention is paid to the situation and the vicissitudes of the fate of Russian emigrants (primarily scholars) in Bulgaria and Czechoslovakia in the 1920s. The letters of Frolovskaya from 1922–1953 to her brothers, Georgii V. and Antonii V. Frolovsky, were used as factual material.
