Abstract: The article considers the work of P.M. Bitsilli as a literary critic, indicates the place of the literary and critical heritage of the scholar in his creative heritage, in Russian philology in general and in the context of literary movements and literary criticism of the twentieth century.

Keywords: Piotr M. Bitsilli, Georgii V. Adamovich, Vladislav F. Khodasevich, literary criticism of Soviet Russia and Russian abroad, symbolism, formalism and other literary movements of the twentieth century.
